| Match Report | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Stranraer 2 Ross County 2 Two goals in seven second-half minutes looked to have handed Ross County victory, but the Dingwall side had not bargained for a late Stephen Swift equaliser which has threatened to snuff out their fading aspirations. Stranraer surprised County with a breakneck start to the game. Stephen Payne looked to test Ian McCaldon with a low drive inside the first minute, but it took a slight deflection and flew wide. Alter just two minutes McCaldon gifted the home team the opener when he spilled Payne's corner. Although Jim Lauchlan cleared off the line, Michael Moore ducked down to head home. Gardner Speirs gave his side some pointers during the interval and from the restart Sean Higgins blasted a volley over the bar to signal. County showed their attacking intent at the start of the second half and three minutes later were on level terms when defender Murray Henderson tripped Winters inside the box. The striker dusted himself down and tucked away a well-struck penalty. In the 58th minute, the visitors got their noses in front when McSwegan's effort came back off the post and Higgins was free to stab home the rebound. County were in cruise control for most of the remainder of the game, but three minutes from time a precise Moore pass provided Swift with the chance to earn a point which is much more valuable for Stranraer than County. |
