Ross County 5 Forres Mechanics 0

Although Ross County were able to trounce Forres Mechanics to the tune of 5 goals to nil at Victoria Park, Dingwall, on Saturday, thereby returning to their consistent goal-scoring record at the beginning of the season, the visitors put in some good displays of football. After defeating Peterhead the previous week, perhaps too much was expected of the Forres men. An injury to their custodian, which kept him out of play for most of the game, was also a severe handicap. Ross County appeared confident from the start, and the work of Browning and Farmer justified their inclusion in the team. Clark took the place of Vass. They played as a unit and rarely went wrong. But perhaps J. Findlay, at left back, deserves an extra word for his fine all-round display. Time and again he broke up dangerous raids.
County won the toss, and taking advantage of a slight wind, began the attack straight away. A smart run by Urquhart saw Wisniewski flash out to punch the winger's cross from Ogilvie's head. A scoring opportunity came again when Clark trapped a ball sent out by the custodian, but the shot just missed the empty goal by inches. At this point the keeper was injured and taken off. Clark made no mistake with his second opportunity. Urquhart's free-kick saw Ogilvie head the ball to Clark, who continued its top-storey passage into the net.
No. two came in polished manner from Urquhart, who took a Browning ball, eluded Watt, and sent in a low, fast drive. Just on the interval, Ogilvie was carried off following a tackle by Rooney. Play was on the rough side, but referee T. Macniven, Inverness, had sound control.
Wisniewski did not resume custody after the interval, and his place was taken by Burr, who showed his worth as a keeper, saving thrice running in good style. Ogilvie was able to come out again and it was obvious that he had fully recovered, as his play scintillated, and he went on to secure a hat-trick and take the final score to 5-0. Forres had their periods of pressure, and although clever forward, lacked punch. Towards the end play deteriorated.
