Ross County 2 Huntly 0 A Generation's wait came to a triumphant end at Victoria Park last night as Ross County clinched the TSB Highland League title in true champagne style with a 2-0 win against Huntly. Goals from Robbie Williamson and Scott Lemmon either side of the interval put an end to the 25 years wait for that championship feeling and sent the champagne corks popping all over Ross-shire. "I'm happy that we've won the title on home ground and with a good performance," said elated Ross County manager Bobby Wilson. "We played some superb football this season and it was nice to finish in that vein." County set out determined to put Saturday's setback against Fraserburgh behind them. However, Huntly could have scored in the second minute when Findlay broke on the right and crossed to the near post where Dunsire slid the ball a foot wide almost before the home side had settled. Bellshaw went close with a spectacular overhead effort midway through the first half. Duncan had his name taken in 33 minutes for a challenge on Williamson. When Girling hammered Ferries from behind three minutes before the break, County punished them with the opening goal. Albert Allan flighted a perfectly-weighted free kick to the far post, where WILLIAMSON arrived like an express train to head powerfully past Gardiner. Gardiner pulled off the save of the game just on half time, diving to turn a Connelly shot round the post. Five minutes into the second half, LEMMON grabbed the crucial goal, running the ball home from close range after Murphy and Gardiner got in each other's way at a corner.
