Ross County 5 Inverness Thistle 0 Ross County surged back to the top of the TSB Highland League to leave Jags' new boss Jim Leishman still looking for his first win. With Scott Lemmon back in the middle of defence and Robbie Williamson conducting the midfield brilliantly, the Ross side cantered confidently to victory. The return of keeper Mike Ure also bolstered the home defence and he had two brilliant stops, from John Bain and Mike Noble, before County got their noses in front. But it was an Alan Duff shot in 9min which set the pattern for County, although Thistle replied immediately with Noble forcing Ure to punch over with Bain ready to pounce. Then it was Bain who brought a diving save from the keeper after the striker got away on his own. A timely tackle on Taylor by Lemmon came to the Ross rescue, but it was County who drew first blood in 21min with a brilliant goal. Billy Ferries took off on one of his now familiar wing cantrips and crossed for Brian GRANT to head home. Just 7min later County went two up when LEMMON drove home from the edge of the box, but the Jags came surging back and a Bain rocket came off the bar and then Stevenson blazed over. County, however, made the points safe 3min into the second half and again it was dangerman Ferries who was the provider. He left former St Mirren captain Billy Abercromby standing and crossed perfectly for Robbie WILLIAMSON to head home. In 58min County were four up with their twin strikers doing the business. Duff evaded a Christie tackle only to see his shot come off a post, but Brian GRANT was on hand to slab the ball home. County turned on the style after this and substitute Robertson had Calder going full stretch before DUFF completed County's glory night. County's Somerville and Thistle's Stevenson were booked after a midfield tussle.
