Ross County 2 Brora Rangers 0 Queen of the South manager Frank McGarvey will have a name ringing in his ears this week along with the Christmas carols as his thoughts turn to next Saturday's Scottish Cup trip to Dingwall. For the report filed by his Scottish Cup spy after County's 2-0 TSB Highland League victory over Brora Rangers on Saturday will contain plenty of references to Ross striker Brian Grant. The former Falkirk forward was the best player on the park as the runaway TSB Highland League table-toppers ended Brora's season-long unbeaten away record. With County cohort Alan Duff--the club's top scorer--nursing a knee injury in the Victoria Park stand, Grant took centre stage and simply ran away with the show as he put one of the best performances seen from a striker in the North this season. GRANT grabbed County's second goal--a 20-yard grounder midway through the second half which was engineered out of nothing and left Brora keeper Graham Stewart helpless. Gordon CONNELLY hammered home his 10th penalty of the season at the end of the first half to put County ahead and that man Grant was again involved as he headed on a cross to the far post where Jocky Begg held Robbie Williamson down to concede the spot kick. |
