Ross County 2 Deveronvale 1 On Saturday, spectators were admitted free to Victoria Park in appreciation of their support over a week in which they had enjoyed two home games at a cost to themselves financially, through one does not think many cavilled at meeting the admission fee, such was the standard of entertainment provided. When Deveronvale opened the scoring in Saturday's Highland League match, the doubter felt that the reaction had set in from the Monday game with Aberdeen. In the 16th minute, MACDONALD took advantage of a failure of the County defence to clear the ball and scored. However, six Minutes later, Chris SOMMERVILE, who has been adding spice to the attack from midfield, as Gary Campbell hold down the right back position well, levelled the score with a diving header which had the keeper beaten all ends up. Alan DUFF gave County the lead with what proved to be the winning goal in the 40th minute. Try as they could in the second half, the Dingwall lads just could not turn the ball into the net. Football of the highest order was again produced Billy Ferries displaying all his skills, as with the support of Gordon Connelly and Chriss Somerville, he attacked strongly down the right wing, 'skinning' defenders before unleashing perfectly placed crosses upon which Duff and Grant were thriving, but were having little luck. The Vale goal bore a charmed life as shots rained in on it, and only the keeping of Randall and the bar kept them out. Yet, Deveronvale could have so easily broken away and snatched an equaliser, it was that type of game. This was a competent display from County, who were well served by young Ross Cathcart in goal for the injured Ure.
