Buckie Thistle 2 Ross County 0
Ross County's TSB Highland League defence was dealt a blow at Victoria Park, Buckie, where they crashed 2-0 to a fine performance from Buckie Thistle.
The goals came one in each half from Alan McPherson and Gary Clark and they were enough to leave County, who had their fair share of possession, counting the cost of missed chances.
Buckie deservedly led 2-0 at half time, after using the wind to good effect to pin County back for long spells and had their final ball been better, and the woodwork not intervened twice, they could have been three goals clear at the break.
County keeper Steve Hutcheson had to come off his line quickly in seven minutes to charge down a shot from Gordon Robertson and he was lucky on the half hour when he was beaten by a 22yd volley from Jim Findlay which hit an upright and just eluded Robertson, who was following up.
The home side got their noses in front in 38 minutes when McPHERSON climbed above the County defence at the back post to meet a Robertson corner with a bullet header which left the County keeper helpless.
The champions were lucky not to go further behind on the stroke of half time when Clark ran on to a long clearance from Innes to beat Hutcheson with an 18yd lob which crashed off the County crossbar.
With the wind behind them in the second half. County set about redressing the balance, but found the Jags defence in miserly mood.
Grant headed County's best early chance of an equaliser just wide after Bellshaw nodded a corner across the Buckie goal mouth.
With time running out County boss Bobby Wilson sent on former Don Andy MacLeod, cutting his defence to just three in a brave step to get back into the game.
But a Gary CLARK goal in 77 minutes, when he took a Findlay cross beautifully in his stride to beat Hutcheson, left County with a mountain to climb.
