Match Report	Match Report Report by W.W. for the North Star. Lossiemouth 1 Ross County 2 Down the years the pulling power of Ross County, both at home and away, has been well-known. In fact, last seasons Scottish Cup run and championship win had the crowds streaming over the bridge and it must be heartening for the club to see the fans staying loyal this term and even finding the cash and the time to travel away. Indeed, while both Caley and Huntly must be wondering where last Saturday's huge crowds go on other Saturdays County find they have perhaps one of the best, supporters in the Highland League. They can't be far off it as the season has proved week after week with the average Dingwall gate being around the 700 mark and the travelling support boosting the coffers of the opposition. In fact, other clubs must look to the visit of County with anticipation of the treasurer smiling all the way to the bank on a Monday morning. Such was the case at Nairn a fortnight ago where, they tell me, the usual home crowd is around the 30-40 mark on 'normal' weeks--yes, as low as that, When County met them in the North Cup as many as 434 went through the turn-styles, surely about 400 from Ross-shire. And, at Lossiemouth last Friday evening, almost 1000 attended, again the numbers being probably more Ross-shire than Morayshire. And County delighted their travelling legions by improving their bid to retain the championship with a fine, although narrow, 2-1 win. And despite only winning by the odd goal in three County dictated for long spells and perhaps should have had more to show for their superiority against a side also well in the hunt for the flag. Once again Brian (JO) Grant, the north's leading scorer by a mile, was on the mark but, strangely, once again, manager Wilson decided to substitute the sharp shooter, an almost regular decision which certainly mystifies those faithful fans of Ross. Recent signing Andrew Macleod came on to make an distinct impression during his short sojourn on the park and looks like being quite an acquisition to the Victoria Park staff. GRANT's opener came in the 38th minute in this rip roaring tussle and it was no surprise when determined Lossie got back on level terms eight minutes after the turn when the ever dangerous Iain STEWART was on the spot to crash his side right back into things. County and flying winger Barry Wilson however, had no intention of losing any points and in 67 minutes WILSON shot a powerful free kick from all of 20 yards past keeper Pirie. Another three hard earned but well deserved points for County who now take on Inverness Thistle in the league at Dingwall this Saturday.
