Gala Fairydean 2 Ross County 2 Ross County could pitch second-team amateur Sandy McLeod (20) into the Scottish Cup first round replay against battling Borderers Gala Fairydean at Victoria Park. Centre half Johnston Bellshaw is suspended after the first sending-off of his career midway through the second half of Saturday's Netherdale epic 2-2 draw and that has left County manager Bobby Wilson with a defensive problem. "I'm waiting to get a report on how our second team performed on Saturday before I make up my mind who comes in for Johnston, but Sandy McLeod is one possibility," said County manager Bobby Wilson. "The other option is a return for Albert Allan, who also played in the second team on Saturday. He is getting close to full match fitness again and his big game experience could be crucial. "Whatever I decide to do, we'll be going into the game with an unfamiliar defensive formation but Gala have to travel with their first-choice keeper suspended and that will probably cause them a far bigger problem. "As far as Saturday went I thought we played well and what came close to causing our downfall was our failure to capitalise on the pressure we put them under in the first 20 minutes." Saturday's tie looked like a mere formality as County swept straight into top gear, took the game by the scruff of the neck, scored an 11th minute opener through Brian GRANT and ran Gala ragged. But Grant missed a golden opportunity to put County two up in 25 minutes and the Highland League champions found themselves in a tough cup tie when they went in at half-time with their lead gone after Stuart THORBURN levelled in 41 minutes. Bellshaw's unlucky dismissal for a second bookable offence came in 66 minutes with Gala leading 2-1 thanks to a Gordon Ainslie header and thinking about a trip to Berwick next month, but Alan DUFF dived into a packed goalmouth to head County level from a corner four minutes later. Right at the death, County got the chance to avoid tonight's rematch when Gala's former Hibs keeper John Rammage upended Gordon Connelly in the penalty area, conceded a penalty and got a red card for his trouble, but penalty expert Alan Notman had other ideas. Notman, who has scored 29 consecutive penalties, took over the keeper's shirt and pulled off a stupendous diving save to touch Connelly's spot kick on to the bar and away to safety to make tonight's replay necessary. Gala manager Stewart Robertson has called up local amateur keeper Vince O'Brien to replace the suspended Ramage, but his biggest worry for tonight's replay is midfielder Norrie Collins, who was yesterday having intensive treatment on a thigh injury.
