Match Report	Match Report Report by Bill McAllister for the Press & Journal. Ross County 1 Caledonian FC 2 After 17 years as a senior player, Kenny Taylor has reached his first final. The big centre half booked his passage with a dominating display at Dingwall in Caley's 2-1 win over league champions Ross County in the semi-final of the Qualifying Cup. Taylor was left out of the Cove Rangers team for last season's final--just before he moved to Caley. The powerful Aberdonian said: "I was really disappointed at missing out with Cove,--but now I'm delighted to have made the breakthrough with Caley. "Since I joined Arbroath at the age of 16, I've never been in a final. Playing for Angus clubs, as I did for most of my career, made winning medals pretty difficult--so I'm determined to help Caley account for Peterhead in the final. It will be Caley's eighth Qualifying Cup final in 10 years--but another for whom it will be a first final appearance is goalkeeper Mark McRitchie. McRitchie was a happy man on Saturday--for in the League Cup semi-finals he made the blunder which put Ross County on the way to victory. But this time McRitchie was a hero--making two magnificent saves in the dying minutes from Johnston Bellshaw and Gordon Connelly. Caley co-manager John Docherty said: "It was just a question of getting the right blend and waiting for the confidence to grow. there's more to come from this Caley team. County manager Bobby Wilson said: "Caley just shaded it because they competed that bit better. We have to regret not having turned pressure into goals when we were 1-0 up and in command." County wingers Billy Ferries and Barry Wilson both produced fine displays--but County's tactic of playing two wingers misfired this time as Caley powered their way back into the game. The gamble of fielding Robert Allan failed when he was carried off in the opening minutes--but County went on to play some super stuff once FERRIES had put them ahead from Wilson's pin-point cross. Caley were on the ropes until they were awarded a penalty just on half-time when Robbie Williamson collided with Charlie Christie and Mike ANDREW equalised from the spot. It looked a soft award. Veteran Billy URQUHART, no stranger to finals and enjoying yet another resurgence, booked Caley's place with a fine goal on the hour mark. When the cross came in from Wilson Robertson, who had a stirring second half, Urquhart's first touch was superb to set up a half-volley of power and precision. County will play worse and win, but Caley had the vital extra determination and missed good chance to extend their lead before McRitchie rescued them. Despite six bookings--four of which were for dissent--it was a great cup tie, fought out in an excellent spirit.
