Ross County 3 Inverness Clachnacuddin 1 Ross County are to have talks with winger Billy Ferries on a new contract for the winger who has played only 20 minutes first team football since Barry Wilson returned from Southampton in September. Ferries, who won three successive championship medals--one with Elgin and two with County, has been plagued by recurring groin trouble. Manager Bobby Wilson said Ferries, whose contract expired at the weekend, is to be offered a new one. "We've written to Billy intimating our intention to offer a contract and we'll be discussing the situation with him," he said. "But the long-term injury does create a problem." Left back Gary Campbell whose contract has also expired, is being made a new offer and midfielder Cammy Robertson is staying at Dingwall, to the disappointment of Clach and Inverness Thistle. Manager Wilson said: "The fact that more players will be available as the Scottish League clubs cut back is something we'll be following up with a view to strengthening the squad." Clach, meanwhile, are optimistic at pipping Forres Machanics this week for the signatures of Invergordon pair, Wayne Schofield and Alan Richardson. County striker Brian GRANT finished in style with a glorious chipped goal for his 27th of the season. His partner, Alan DUFF, netted two beauties-- a 20-yard free-kick and a header. For Clach, Graeme Bennett was outstanding in midfield, Jim Anderson commanding at the back and Jamie Macpherson unlucky not to score against his old club. The only sour note was a wild tackle by Jimmy Fotheringnam on Tommy Drummond which left both players unable to continue. John SEATON's opportunism saw him grab Clach's counter when he reacted quickly to Gary Campbell's slack pass-back. A fitting swansong for referee Bill Machray, who received a presentation to mark his retiral.
