Ross County 1 Inverness Thistle 2 Champions Ross County's lean streak stretched to only one win in the 10 games they have played this year as Ian Polworth's double saw Jags bounce back from their North Cup final defeat. The champions have taken only seven points in nine league games in 1993, a sorry run which has ended their hopes of a third successive title. Yet it was a different story in the early stages as the visitors were put under pressure and Alan DUFF crashed County ahead in 10 minutes with a superb solo effort, cutting in from the left past two man and left-footing it in at the near post. County could not stretch their lead and early in the second half Calder produced a spectacular flying save to push a Duff scorcher round the post. Jags were continuing to cause problems, with Alan Macdonald prominent, and they drew level in 67 minutes when POLWORTH took a short indirect free kick from Bremner and fired the ball through a ruck. In 75 minutes the home side wasted a great chance to regain the lead when Calder saved a Brian Grant penalty. Worse was to come for the home fans in 80 minutes when, with the Dingwall defence in disarray, Billy Wilson's clever run and pass sent POLWORTH racing through the middle to give the keeper no chance.
