| Match Report | Match Report Report by Kevin Williams for the Press & Journal. Ross County 1 Buckie Thistle 1 Ross County and Buckie Thistle fought out an ill-tempered 1-1 draw at Dingwall on Saturday and the result effectively ended both teams already slim chances of winning the Press and Journal Highland League title. The visitors had their backs to the wall for most of the game and seemed quite content to hit on the break. Kenny Taylor was the Jags hero in central defence with some tremendous tackles and interceptions but he become the villain with 10 minutes to go when he was sent off for retaliating to a Barry Wilson challenge. County manager Bobby Wilson said: "We are lacking in confidence in the final third of the park." A swirling wind and a bumpy pitch spoiled a lot of promising moves from both teams and also played a big part in the visitors' equaliser early in the second half. Gordon ROBERTSON floated over an in-swinger that deceived keeper Steve Hutchison. Chris Somerville hooked the ball away at the far post but the referee and linesman didn't hesitate in awarding a goal. The first half will be remembered for an action-packed five-minutes spell during which Ian Bruce saw a 40-yard effort rebounded off the bar and the home side took the lead with Brian GRANT finding time to bring down an Alan Duff cross to slam past Innes from 12 yards. County's Johnston Bellshaw and Buckie's Dave Galbraith, Ian Mathieson and Mike Smart were booked. |
