Lossiemouth 3 Ross County 3 The players of Lossiemouth and Ross County and the three march officials all deserved a medal at Grant Park on Saturday for giving the freezing fans full value for money in atrocious conditions. Fierce wintry squalls affected the game throughout and County striker Brian Grant was unable to take part in the second half due to the effects of hypothermia. "The whole team was soaked through and shivering at the interval and Brian was really unwell," said County manager Bobby Wilson. "I know that the referee was thinking about abandoning the game at one stage and nobody would have blamed him if he had." It was a great pity that two good footballing teams had to resort to the more direct style of play but for the fans the defensive mistakes only added to the excitement. The league champions will rue missing a host of scoring opportunities, particularly just before and after the interval, but Lossie themselves could have put the game beyond County's reach on several occasions. Robbie WILLIAMSON opened the scoring early on thumping a 10-yard drive high past Pirie from a corner, Ian SHAW equalised soon afterwards, nodding in a cross from Drew Ross. Substitute Gary ROSS earned his side a penalty after a rash tackle by Andy Fiske and the youngster converted the kick himself. The home side got back on level terms with Ross again the provider for an Iain STEWART header and they took the lead when ROSS caught Scott Lemon in possession and chipped the ball past Steve Hutchison. Gary ROSS made it 3-3 by scoring direct from a wind assisted corner and both teams then went flat out for the final 20 minutes in search of the winner. Lossie manager Fraser Kellas said: "A share of the point was about right. I must admit I expected more from Ross County in the second half when they had the wind and, judging from that performance, I don't think they had the will win the league." Manager Kellas was full of praise for his two defenders Ian Grant and Jim Cheyne. Norman Kellas also did a good job in midfield and wee Drew Ross looked dangerous every time he got the ball. For County, full back Chris Somerville was tremendous both in defence and attack and Johnston Bellshaw caught the eye with some timely interceptions. Tommy Drummond showed why senior clubs are taking an interest displaying some silky skills in midfield and Barry Wilson is also approaching something like his old form. "I think 71 or 72 points is going to win the league this time," said Ross boss Wilson, "There are a lot of points to be won and lost and we have to go to Cove and Caley yet."
