Ross County 2 Cove Rangers 1 Former Don Andy McLeod is set to miss out on the remainder of Ross County's Press and Journal Highland League title treble bid after his personal injury hoodoo struck again early in Saturday's crunch game against Cove Rangers. The Invergordon-born midfielder was taken to Raigmore Hospital after last Saturday's last-gasp 2-1 win. Knee ligament damage was diagnosed, ruling him out of the action for up to a month. "It's a blow for Andy and for us because he has been coming on to his game in recent weeks after a difficult time battling with injuries and illness," said County manager Bobby Wilson. "He had an outstanding game against Keith and booked his place against Cove on merit. This latest injury means we will be another player short at a crucial stage of the season." The 23-year-old local lad had to be carried off after just six minutes of a game which County had to win to keep their title hopes alive. It was a setback which eventually worked in their favour. Manager Wilson decided not to risk Chris Somerville and Gary Campbell against Cove and fielded a side featuring an unfamiliar defensive line-up. Scott Lemmon, who now looks back to his best after a leg-break, and Johnston Bellshaw lined up together in central defence, with Robbie Williamson in his usual berth at sweeper. When McLeod left the field injured, namesake Sandy MacLeod entered the fray going to left back. Lemmon slotted it in at right back, but County looked anything but secure even then. County sneaked in level--a poacher's header from Alan DUFF right on half-time whistle cancelling out Mike MEGGINSON's 27th-minute opener--at the interval after spending 45 minutes firmly under the Cove cosh. So far on top were Cove in the first half, it took a handful of top-flight saves from Steve Hutchison and some unconvincing Cove finishing to keep County alive. "For 35 minutes Cove looking the best Highland League side I've seen since Elgin City three years ago and should have been well in front by half-time," conceded Ross boss Bobby Wilson. With a draw looking likely after County got their act together in the second half, Alan DUFF, who had looked badly out of sorts in front of goal just a week earlier, lashed in an unstoppable volley and County pocketed the points.
