| Match Report | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Clyde 2 Ross County 0 Ross County directors this week will concentrate on appointing a new manager to shape the side for next season. Director of football George Adams emphasised yet again--after this less than sparkling game against Clyde--that the aim is to have the new man in place before the end of the season. But supporters will be hoping the new man will spark some life into the players as they aim to show what they can do. In keeping with the game, both goals were scrappy. The first came in 22 minutes when a 25-yard Simon O'Donnell free kick was deflected off the defensive wall to give young goalkeeper Joseph Malin no chance as it landed in the corner of the net. The second came from a soft penalty decision by referee Ian Brines when Sean Webb and Tom Brighton tangled in the box, and it was left to O'Donnell to score from the spot. The most interesting event of the afternoon for Ross County fans came within the first 10 seconds. From the kick-off, Don Cowie touched the ball to Sean Higgins and he tried an audacious, 50-yard lob which caught home goalkeeper Paul Cherrie off his line. but the goalkeeper rushed back in time to scramble the ball off the line. Adams said: "We played well enough at the start and created one or two chances which we failed to take. "When we go down, we never look like coming back. This has been the story over the past few weeks. I find it so frustrating." Clyde manager Graham Roberts said: "We dominated for long spells and I can recall them having only one shot late on, except for that first few seconds when they tried to catch us out." |
