East Fife 2 Ross County 2 Real anger and frustration was how manager Stuart Kettlewell said he was left feeling as Ross County settled for a point after a 2-2 draw with East Fife on Saturday. The Staggies needed an injury time equaliser to salvage a point at Methil after conceding the lead in the second half. Ross County took the lead when Adam Emslie was credited with scoring the opening goal in the 52nd minute. But East Fife fought back when Cammie Ross scored on the hour mark and looked like he got the winner three minutes from the end. However, Kieran Phillips found the net to make it 2-2 in injury time as they took a point back to Dingwall. Speaking on Ross County social media after the match, Kettlewell was not happy with his team’s effort at Bayview Park. He said: “Real anger and frustration. Once we got ourselves ahead, and deservedly so, it looks like we would dominate the ball and create chances from wide areas. “Any time that East Fife got it, we knew they would try and get it up to their two strikers. For whatever reason, we got embroiled into a game we didn’t want it to be. “We don’t deal with two long balls which leads to their two goals. We worked on that this week as we knew that is what was going to come. “I am not a football snob by any stretch of the imagination. But for large periods we played decent football and had good control of the game. “Somebody flicked a switch where we weren’t dealing with those balls directly from the goalkeeper and centre backs directly into their strikers which was causing their own problems. “Even when we did deal with the first ball, we never had the composure to keep the first pass to deal out of a ruck. “It was almost as we thought we were going to play forward with one touch. “There is a fight and scrap but also lots of opportunity to get the ball down and pass. There was a spell in the second half where East Fife got their two goals. I saw something from us that I have not seen all season. “But testament to the players, as annoyed and frustrated as I am, we could be walking out of here with nothing. We showed unbelieveable character and quality to get that equalising goal.” It was the first time this season the Staggies have dropped points in League One after winning their first four matches, including their 4-0 victory over East Kilbride last weekend. Ross County take a break from League One next Saturday when they take on Premiership outfit Hibernian in Dingwall in the Scottish League Cup quarter finals. Kettlewell says they will look at what went wrong today in the hope that they can cause an upset. He said: “The message will be what we done wrong, which we will look at as we always do. “The big part is what did we do right and what have we done right for a decent period time, that made us competitive in every game of football we have played to this point. “We need to remind ourselves about that and setting the standard. “When we are not best and have the football, we need to make better decisions and be more composed in our defending.”
