Ross County 5 Forres Mechanics 1 Forres Mechanics manager Harry McFadden yesterday praised Ross County midfielder Robbie Williamson for his sportsmanship. Williamson rushed to the referee to plead the cause of Mike Davidson, who had already been booked, after the two clashed in County's 5-1 victory at Dingwall on Saturday in the TSB Highland League. Boss McFadden said: "It was a pure accident, but I accept that it looked bad--and Mike would certainly have been sent off but for Williamson's intervention. "That kind of attitude is what restores your faith in the game." Williamson said: "The player was unlucky in his challenge and I rushed to the referee to make the case for him because I would have felt unhappy if it had been me." That was the only success for Forres as County underlined their championship credentials in fine style. It is 22 years since Ian McNeill, Don McMillan and Jim Hosie spearheaded County's first and only championship triumph--and this performance influenced even doubters that they could go on and take the flag. No one was more impressed than boss McFadden, who said: "We were taken apart by a good team who played really well. Their off-the-ball running was unbelievable and their players played up to level of their ability. "If they don't take each game as it comes, Ross County will take a bit of catching in the championship." The Forres defence, who have conceded just two goals away from home, were reduced to tatters by skilful raiding of Billy Ferries, Brian GRANT and hat-trick hero Alan DUFF. The ubiquitous Gordon CONNELLY slotted home his ninth penalty of the season, but Duff's opportunism brought the two players level on the 14 goal mark. Grant, signed from Brechin two months ago, showed superb skill on the ball to play a key role in the Ross leading-up work. Robbie Williamson producer his best form in weeks as County ran riot, with Bobby Gray a hero in the Forres goal.
