| Match Report | Match Report Report by W.W. for the North Star. Buckie Thistle 3 Ross County 2 Cocky County crashed from their precarious perch at the top of the TSB Highland League with a 3-2 defeat at Buckie on Saturday. It was less than 72 hours after they had reached the top rung that County found themselves floundering once again against a Buckie Thistle side who, in the past, have often dented the Ross side's aspirations. County had gone to the top on merit after that fine 4-1 win over the other County at Nairn last Wednesday but the high hopes of their fans that their favourites would consolidate their position as leaders on Saturday afternoon at the other Victoria Park, was not to be. While they were seemingly unlucky not to get at least a share of the spoils, and the Jags only got the winner near the end, the winning of major honours doesn't happen with hard luck stories and County would do well to remember this. They got off to a flyer with a DUFF goal in 14 minutes but two strikes by Buckie's Alan MACPHERSON put the home side ahead until DUFF stepped in again. Then, after a succession of near things at Buckie goal, they raced away for Davie GALBRAITH to get the winner and the three points. |
