Elgin City, last season's most successful Highland League side, make an early visit to Victoria Park, Dingwall, this season with a league encounter against Ross County.
And the fact that the Ross lads were on the wrong end of Elgin's brilliance last season should make for a spanking encounter with County out for revenge.
The City slickers, who have started this season off with a flourish, despite losing players of such calibre as manager Steve Paterson and right winger Billy Ferries, will be no easy marks for County whose failing to put the ball in the net--so frustrating to them and annoying to the fans all last--remains to haunt them this term.
And this failing was never so evident as last Saturday when they played host to Peterhead and proceeded to give the Blue Toon men a lesson in the finer arts of the game and then in how to miss chances.
It must be frustrating, to say the least, for manager Bobby Wilson to have to watch his charges make all the running and then miss all the chances like they did on Saturday and recently in the Highland League Cup quarter-final tie with Brora Rangers.
With proven goal scorers like Alan Duff and big Jim Laidlaw failing to get their names on the score sheet it must be a source of worry to the Ross management and not least their faithful band of fans. Will it mean a repeat of last season's promise yet nothing at the end of the day? Let's hope not.
