Lossiemouth 0 Ross County 0 Ross County woeful finishing in Saturday's McEwan's Lager North Cup final could cost them the trophy and backfire on their bid to defend the TSB Highland League title. The Dingwall side have to travel to Buckie on Wednesday for a difficult league match before they have another crack at Lossiemouth at Kingsmills Park, Inverness, in Saturday's final replay. With two games a week to play in a hectic league title run-in, another fixture in a hectic programme is something manager Bobby Wilson admitted he could happily have done without. "The more games we have to play the more chance there is that we could pick up injuries or suspensions, which could affect the outcome of the title challenge," said the County boss. "Whether it was because we put them under so much pressure early on or because they froze to an extent, they didn't really allow the game to open up. It was one of those days when our forwards just couldn't get going." Indeed, Alan Duff, who played with an ankle injury, Brian Grant and Barry Wilson produced little to trouble Lossie keeper and man of the match award winner Ivor Pirie, who was protected by a packed Coasters defence whenever County threatened. Chance after chance went begging as the normally lethal County forwards apparently decided to take the day off. As a result, a final which the 3,000 crowd hoped would be a classic fizzled out into something of a damp squib. Even with livewire Iain Stewart trying his hardest to get Lossie going forward, the Coasters gave the County defence an easy afternoon. Lossie manager Fraser Kellas, whose side have to take on Huntly at Grant park on Wednesday night before they tackle County again, said: "Under the circumstances I'm quite relieved that we're still in the competition because we didn't play well at all apart from at the back," where we kept things very tight."
