Match Report	Match Report Report from the Ross-shire Journal. Nairn County 0 Ross County 3 In Arctic-like Conditions on Station Park, Nairn, on Wednesday evening of last week, Ross County accounted for Nairn County for the third time of asking this season, and in all three games have not conceded a single goal. Nairn County had the advantage of this gale-force wind in the first half and it was during this period that they were seen at their best, producing some good attacking moves, though these were few in number and lacked the bite and power of those of their opponents. On one occasion, however, they brought the hearts into the mouths of Ross County supporters, when Steve Hutcheson received a knock on the thigh. It was obvious, though, that after receiving the required attention, the injury hurt as Steve delegated his goal-kicks to Robbie Williamson, or whoever was handy. From the start, Ross County were on the attack, and, playing into the wind, they produced excellent football as they took Nairn apart, the only relief for a pressurised defence being the operation of an effective off-side trap orchestrated by centre half Christie, with defenders moving forward in unison at a sharp command or sweep of an arm. As far as Nairn were concerned it was a most effective measure, but, from a spectator's point of view it was just not on. It disrupted the smooth flow of the game, and though it relieved pressure, it was only a moment of relief. The first goal took a long time in coming, and when it came in the 41st minute, it was one of the best, the result of a super move involving Gordon Connelly and Brian Grant. As Connelly took up the ball from a defender's clearance on the left, Grant was running into space on the wing to take his pass, and then, jinking round a defender inside the box, he made for the goal line, and struck the ball to the far post, where Johnston BELLSHAW was positioned to score with a powerful header. Up to that moment, the Ross County forwards had had innumerable chances of scoring, but were being defied by goalkeeper Billy Neilson, who had been chosen as the Highland League's Player of the Month of February. And little wonder, for his performances in all three games against Ross County have been first-rate, standing as he did between Nairn and proverbial barrowload. Neilson dealt with all types of ball and shot, and at this stage Nairn could have been sunk without trace. This type of performance was to continue into the second half, and though the visitors were to score another two goals, their tally could have been much greater, but for the display of Neilson, who clutched shot after shot, blocking, clutching or punching the ball away. An excellent display and one which earned general plaudits. Billy had to bow to defeat on two further occasions, however. The first was in the 56th minute, when Dundee United and Southampton trialist Barry WILSON headed home a corner kick from Cammy Robertson. Then in the 65th minute, Grant's perfectly struck shot was parried by Neilson to DUFF, and he scored amidst protests that he had controlled the ball with his hand before shooting it home. As a result of these protests, a Nairn defender was booked.
