Elgin City 1 Ross County 3 Ross County central defender Ian MacFadyen is unavailable for Saturday's Scottish Cup tie at Galashiels. The Kyle of Lochalsh teenager, freed by Rangers last summer, misses the game because the Dingwall club have failed to register him with the SFA in time. MacFadyen, who played in Saturday's 3-1 win at Elgin, cannot face Gala, leaving County with a major headache if sweeper Robbie Williamson does not recover from his hamstring injury. Manager Bobby Wilson said: "Ian joined us on a short term contract which had expired by the time he came back from trials with Stock City. I then signed him on a North Caledonian League form, which is not good enough as far as the Scottish Cup is concerned. With Williamson already injured. County collected a fresh cup worry in the 3-1 victory against Elgin City at Borough Briggs on Saturday when striker Alan Duff failed to come out for the second half after getting a kick in the kidneys. Midfield schemer Gordon Connelly is nursing a swollen elbow, but he should be ready. Gala's "spy" saw County struggle in a leaden-paced first half in which Kevin WILL's lob gave Elgin a merited interval lead. But it was a different story in the second half as the champions moved up a gear and looked much more assertive. Barry WILSON grabbed two fine goals to take his haul to seven in the space of a week, but the pick of them all was substitute Gary ROSS's fierce low drive for the second. Johnston Bellshaw, totally dominant, Chris Somerville, ceaselessly probing, and skipper Cammy Robertson, always looking to make the telling pass, took the eye for County. Elgin have found a likely lad in Raymond Ralph at the back, while Russell MacKay worked tirelessly in midfield. However, manager John Teasdale knows he still has a bit to do in the team-strengthening department, though City showed plenty of spirit for the first hour. The result is a piece of Highland football history, for Ross County have never before beaten Elgin four times in the one season.
