Lossiemouth 3 Ross County 1 (Match abandoned at half time) Lossiemouth manager Fraser Kellas was left fuming on Saturday afternoon when the Coasters' weather jinx struck for the third time in a month. The top Press and Journal Highland League clash at frost-affected Grant Park was one of just three fixtures to beat the weather, but referee Brian Bendel called a halt to the action at half time. Already this season, Lossie have seen their league game at Huntly postponed an hour before the kick-off and the match against Nairn County a fortnight ago at Station Park was abandoned at the break. But neither left the Lossie feeling quite as aggrieved as Saturday's early end which came with the Coasters leading the league champions 3-1. Two goals in four minutes from Ian SHAW and Iain STEWART had Lossie 2-0 in front on the half hour, with SHAW adding a third after Johnston BELLSHAW pulled one back for County in 33 minutes. "We called in a referee for a pitch inspection on Saturday morning and he passed the pitch as playable, and when the match official arrived at 1.30pm he was satisfied the game could go on as well," said the Coasters manager. "Having got the game started, I think it should have been played out because the conditions were not getting any worse as the game went on. But the referee's decision in these matters is final. "We put in a great first half and really had County rocking on the way to what could have been a great result for us when the game was abandoned. "It was frustrating and it will fire us up when the re-arranged game come up in the second half of the season." The early halt undoubtedly came as something of a let-off for County, whose manager Bobby Wilson insisted the frosty underfoot conditions were bad enough at kick-off time to warrant not starting the game at all. "I had my doubts at 3pm because the wider areas of the pitch wouldn't take a stud at all and the players were struggling to keep their feet when they were warming up," he said. "When the game started Lossie adapted better than we did and deserved their lead, but there is no doubt in my mind that the referee was right to stop it when he did.
