Rothes 1 Ross County 2 Defending champions Ross County had to come from behind with the help of an own goal to get the better of lowly Rothes at Mackessack Park on Saturday. And it was a result which had Speysiders boss Graham Scott, who saw his side go ahead through a 19th-minute Mike MASSON header, in optimistic mood yesterday. He said: "County as you would expect, had most of the ball but we defended as well as we have against anybody this season and maybe deserved to take something out of the game. "We went ahead through a well-taken goal and could have been two up at half-time had a Davie Simpson shot not hit a post." County were recued by a Gordon CONNELLY equaliser four minutes after the break but, despite their pressure, needed an own goal from on-loan Huntly defender Alan FORREST midway through the second half to collect the full ration of points. "The own goal was a choker for us," said the Rothes manager. "They were pressing us hard at the time, but I thought we were hanging on well enough to deserve a point. "While I don't enjoy losing I'm pleased with our overall performance and the hard work we put into the game because it showed that we are moving in the right direction." While young keeper Euan McLeod was one of the stars of a brave performance from Rothes, the Speysiders manager had nothing but praise for the efforts of veteran Ernie Drews and former Leicester City man Derek Thomson.
