| Comments | Match Report Report by Mike Tremlett for the Press & Journal. Ross County 6 Fort William 1 Fort William manager Danny Conlon plans to be first in line to pay his next phone bill after one call in response to an advertisement in a national newspaper netted the club a promising new signing. He said: "We spotted an advert from Dave McDonald, who was looking for a club, and followed it up. He has played three games, scored twice and has signed on with us until the end of the season." Former Dumbarton player McDonald (28), has joined ex-Arthurlie striker Carlo Girasoli and defender Kevin Reilly, who recently returned from a three-man Glasgow-based contingent at the Lochaber club. "Dave's goal was really the only bright spot in our performance at Dingwall," said manager Conlon, "We started well and pegged their early goal back but we didn't compete hard enough in midfield." Chris SOMMERVILLE's first goal of the season had County ahead in the ninth minute--a goal cancelled out by Dave MCDONALD Fort's new signing, but two quick counters from Gordon CONNELLY and Brian GRANT had the defending champions in the driving seat at the break. The second half was virtually one-way traffic with Sandy MACLEOD heading County 4-1 ahead. Brian GRANT scored twice to complete a hat-trick which took his tally this season to 15 goals. County's task was made easier after Fort's Kevin Reilly was dismissed for deliberate hand ball and Connelly missed a penalty with the home side 4-1 in front. "We needed a result like that after taking just one point from our last three games," said County manager Bobby Wilson, who is looking for a midweek friendly against junior opposition. |
