| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 1 Queen's Park 0 Five wins in their last seven games will book Ross County's ticket to the Second Division--but getting there will not be pretty. That is the view of Ross boss Bobby Wilson, who has decided to set his target for the nail-biting run-in to the promotion chase. "Five wins should be enough, according to my calculations," he said. "But it looks very much like a case of grinding out results for the rest of the season rather than weaving pretty patterns." After his men had picked up three more points with a gritty, if unspectacular, victory over Queen's Park, Wilson praised his Dingwall defence, which is the foundation for the side staying hot on East Stirling's heels. Outstanding performances by centre half Johnston Bellshaw and keeper Steve Hutchinson helped subdue the lively and attack-minded second bottom side, whose classy striker Brian McPhee looks destined for greater things. Bellshaw's aerial power and alertness were remarkable, while Hutchinson, dropped earlier in the season, is now razor sharp and pulled off three critical saves to send the Hampden men home empty handed. Alan Duff's fifth goal of the season, a fine header from a Billy Ferries corner, was enough to maintain County's momentum. Chris Somerville is set to be fit for this week's trip to Arbroath after missing three games with a groin strain. |
