| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Forfar Athletic 4 Ross County 2 Ross County's ex-Forfar striker Brian Grant is convinced he missed a big chance to silence his Station Park critics on Saturday. Hitman Grant took his tally to 13 goals this season with a superb near-post header in the first half of County's 4-2 defeat at the hands of the Bell's Third Division table-toppers. But he was more concerned about two chances he passed up in the second half which could have into the tails of the league leaders. "Fans at Forfar still regard me as a Station Park reject and I enjoyed ramming it down their throats in the Scottish Cup last season when I grabbed a hat-trick," he said. "This time, I stuck a header away in the first half to help haul us back into the game after we'd gone 2-0 down, but i should have had another hat-trick. "When the other chances fell to me in the second half I couldn't put them away and, the way we were playing at the time, either of them could have helped us win the game," Looking for a win to haul themselves closer to the league leaders, second-placed County got off to the worst possible start. Two goals from ex-St. Johnstone striker David Bingham handed Forfar the start they wanted before Grant steered Billy Ferries' cross home at the near post in 20 minutes. By half-time, Paul Hannigan had added a third and County had cut the deficit again with a sharp finish from Andy MacLeod to go in 3-2 down at the end of a riveting first half. After the break County took over completely to hem Forfar back, Grant missing a chance laid on by Andy MacLeod in 68 minutes which would have levelled the score. Then he lobbed a great chance over the bar two minutes from time which would certainly have earned County a valuable point. And County ended up paying for the misses in the final minute when Sandy Ross stroked the ball into an empty net after the Dingwall too far forward. |
