| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 6 Alloa Athletic 0 Brian Grant allayed fears that he wouldn't be a hot-shot in the Scottish League with a sparkling performance to help gun down Alloa 6-0 at Victoria Park on Saturday. But the Invergordon lad, now based at Stonehaven, was at the centre of a spitting row, which left the visitors furious and led to skipper Willie Newbigging being sent off. The Alloa player was red-carded for Grabbing Grant by the throat after the incident, but Ross boss Bobby Wilson said: "It was a total Misunderstanding, Brian was clearing his throat and accidently spat on the Alloa player, who had suddenly run past him. "Newbigging reacted because he thought it was deliberate, Brian was upset about the incident. He's not the type of lad to get involved in that kind of aggro." Grant's two goals took his tally to 11. He also teed up a late goal for substitute Alan Duff. Perhaps Alloa were over-tense, knowing their promotion challenge was on the line, but they self-destructed by having only nine men by half time after a fiery first half in which five others were booked. Andy MacLeod (2) and Gordon Connelly scored the other goals. |
