East Stirlingshire 0 Ross County 2
Ross County go into their Scottish Cup tie at Methil confident that they can stretch their winning burst to nine games in succession and book their place in the last 16.
They are looking to Gordon Connelly to continue his scoring streak and sabotage Steve Archibald's hopes of an East Fife cup run.
Ex-Dunfermline midfielder Connelly has rediscovered his former flair and fire in recent weeks and his goal-a-game run was continued when he grabbed the opener at Firs Park, which carried the Dingwall club into second spot in the Third Division.
Manager Bobby Wilson's master stroke in moving Willie Furphy forward to play in front of the back four, with Billy Herd going to sweeper, has triggered a revitalised Connelly.
"Furphy going into midfield has allowed Gordon the chance to support his front men and get into scoring positions a lot more," said boss Wilson.
"He is really enjoying it. At East Stirling, he hit the best shot I have seen this season and it almost broke the post in two. Gordon hit it so hard that he strained his ankle and will have treatment all week, though we are optimistic he won't miss the cup clash.
