| Comments | Match Report Report by Willie Wilson for the North Star. Ross County 1 East Stirlingshire 4 Straight from the off the visitors put County under pressure and it only took them eight minutes to make the break through. Livewire left winger John Conroy was on the mark as County tried to contain the eager Falkirk forwards. Goal number two came after 27 minutes and although Iain Lee was the man who got the credit for despatching the ball into the net it was County who conjured up the goal. He took off from about mid-way, left defenders in his wake and crossed perfectly to the far post where Lee had the easy of chances. The mood of the fans wasn't too despondent come the interval for they had vivid memories of the super second half show against Cowdenbeath a fortnight before which led to a resounding win. But it was not to be on this occasion and before County could get their act together East Stirling had gone three up. It only took them three minutes to find a way through again and this time big Yates headed strongly past MacMillan. There was no way back now and although County had their best spell after this which led to Grant being bundled off the ball and Andy MacLeod slotting home the resultant penalty award, it was only a gesture. Long before Conroy hammered the final nail in the County coffin with seven minutes left the faithful were streaming back up over the bridge bemused and bewildered but, no doubt, still hoping for a silver lining at the end of the rainbow in the hard winter weeks to come. |
