Deveronvale 1 Ross County 4
Ross County got their preparation for life in a higher division under way at Princess Royal Park, Banff, last night with a comfortable victory over Press and Journal Highland League outfit Deveronvale.
County, who will compete in the Scottish First Division this season, were quickly out of the blocks.
They went ahead after only five minutes, Derek Ferguson's long ball splitting the home defence to leave Alex Bone with a simple finish from six yards.
Vale keeper Fraser Spiers then produced an excellent save to Keep out a Brian Irvine header.
The Banffers equalised after 17 minutes, Mark Chisholm curling a 10-yard effort beyond County keeper Gary Hamilton.
County regained the lead five minutes before the break through another Bone close-range effort, and they should have added to their tally shortly after the restart, but Steve Ferguson saw his 18-yard shot cleared off the line by David Henderson.
David Ross notched County's third after 78 minutes following sparkling wing play from Martin Canning and Bone completed his hat-trick four minutes later.
Vale finished strongly and a superb Craigie strike from 20 yards hit the foot of the post.
