| Comments | Match Report Report by Will Clark from the Ross-shire Journal. Greenock Morton 2 Ross County 1 Ross County have dropped back to the bottom of the Championship after defeat to Greenock Morton at Cappielow. The Staggies are now two points adrift at the foot of the table after Queen’s Park moved above the Staggies after they defeated Arbroath 2-1 in Glasgow this afternoon. County now head to Glasgow to face Queen’s Park on Tuesday night knowing a win would lift them above the Spiders again or defeat will see them five points away from moving out of the relegation zone. Ross County moved off the bottom of the Scottish Championship last week following a 1-0 win at Airdrieonians last week. They made one change from what was their first away win of the season as Ryan Duncan came in for the injured Dean Cornelius. It was the first game the Staggies had played following the departure of Northern Ireland international Ronan Hale who signed for English League Two outfit Gillingham this week. It was also the first game Ross County had without Scott Fraser and Jack Wells-Morrison whose departures from Ross County was also confirmed earlier this week. The Staggies found themselves behind after 19 minutes when former Ross County striker Eamonn Brophy was unchallenged at the edge of the six-yard box to fire past goalkeeper Trevor Carson to fire into the net. Morton doubled their advantage midway through the second half when they caught County on the break when Zak Delaney set up Michael O’Halloran in the box to fire home. Ross County did pull one back late on when Alex Iacovitti connected with a pass from Jordan White to fire into the net, but were unable to find an equaliser. |
