Albion Rovers 1 Ross County 2
Ross County are steeling themselves for a final three-games. Third Division promotion push without the services of striker Jamie Macpherson.
Macpherson, who has been plagued by a recurring injury for much of the club's first senior season, missed Saturday's 2-1 win against bottom-of-the-table Albion Rovers.
County manager Bobby Wilson admits he is now almost resigned to tackling the crucial run-in without the 11-goal Helmsdale hit man. He said: "Not having a player of Jamie's quality is frustrating at a time when we need to win all of our games to give ourselves a chance of going up.
"We really need every player available and as many selection options as possible going into three of the biggest game the club has faced.
But, if Jamie is fit enough to be considered for any of our last three games, we'll look on it as a very useful bonus."
County kept their promotion hopes alive with a win over Rovers in a fiery Cliftonhill dust bowl, where slick football--the Dingwall side's trademark--was never possible.
Former Don Andy MacLeod fired County in front after seven minutes and they would have been 2-0 ahead and coasting had Gordon Connelly's finishing effort on the half-hour not come back off the woodwork.
Ex-Alloa pivot Des Wilcox Pulled one back for Rovers just before the interval when he beat the hesitant Steve Hutchison to a cross and his lucky header dropped beyond the covering Johnston Bellshaw into the net.
Barely 25 seconds into the second half. County got their noses in front again when birthday boy Robbie Williamson forced a driven Connelly cross into Rovers net to grab the crucial counter.
"I didn't think we could play as badly as we did against Montrose last Wednesday night again, but I was wrong and we still managed to win." said a relieved County manager.
The Dingwall club's three-game run-in starts at home to Cowdenbeath--at home this weekend.
