| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 0 Forfar Athletic 1 Forfar Athletic manager Tommy Campbell, his smile at least a couple of bridie lengths wide, looked forward to life in the Second Division and revealed. "We won promotion because the players obeyed my very simple strategy--pass the ball to a teammate." He added "Our approach really is as simple as that . I believe in passing the ball and we have proved that you don't have to depend on kick and rush to get upstairs." The Loons poised and powerful became the first Third Division champions and Campbell took special pleasure that it was big Bobby Mann who scored the winning goal with a powerful drive after working a short free kick with Don McVicar. The Forfar board is now to discuss a new contract to keep Campbell and ex-Celt Brian McLaughlin tied up to continiue the Station Park revolution. The 2,400 fans at Dingwall saw a low-key affair but, with Montrose dropping two points and East Stirling three. Mann's goal meant that Forfar are champions and Ross County are in the driving seat to go up with them. Montrose's visit to Dingwall on Wednesday really is a crunch clash now, with Forfar boss Campbell tipping County to follow his own team to Division 2. Ross boss Bobby Wilson said "It wasn't an epic but I was pleased enough with my teams contribution and we were beaten by a strike good enough to win any honour. As it turns out, the results elsewhere mean we haven't lost ground and our morale is high for Wednesday." |
