| Comments | Match Report Report by Matthew Clark for the Daily Record. Partick Thistle 0 Ross County 2 In football management the highs are memorable and the lows, well they're definitely forgettable. After this latest defeat for Thistle--their sixth in eight games--it would appear that only Captain Nemo could sink any lower than Jags boss John Lambie. No one ever said it would be easy for Lambie to turn things round at Firhill but surely he didn't expect it to be this hard. It is fast becoming a labour of love but despite suffering many sleepless night, Lambie is no quitter. And after another goalless 90 minutes for his side he revealed he'll do what it takes to get back to winning ways. He said: "I know we are not scoring goals but we shouldn't be losing crazy goals like the ones we lost today. "I'm very surprised at the poor start to the season we've had. "I've already received numerous letters from fans saying they feel the results will come but we can't go on saying that forever. "One thing's for sure, this club will not go down. I've rebuilt the team once and maybe now I'll have to change things about. "I can strengthen the squad and I will if I have to." One player to escape Lambie's wrath was man of the match Quinton Jacobs. The 20-year-old Namibian shone in his first start for the club with moments of sheer skill which left even his team-mates dazzled at times. But when it seemed Thistle's luck couldn't get any worse Lambie revealed his star player will be unavailable for next week's trip to Stirling Albion as he will be turning out for Namibia in the COCAFA Cup Final against Angola. Lambie said: "Quinton was superb in training last week and has got stacks of ability. "He's not even 100 per cent fit yet so it will be exciting to see him when he's fully settled--he's two steps ahead of the rest of them." Jacobs himself must be wondering what he's got into. The Namibian is currently taking English lessons from one of the Thistle fans but results so far would mean only swear words would be any good for him in Lambie's dressing room. He said: "I'm enjoying it here and I'm pleased I got my first start for my new club. I might have been man of the match but it means nothing when we lose. "I definitely think we can turn it around and the boss has told me to be more direct." Goals by Ian Maxwell and Gary Wood gave County their first away win of the season. County boss Neale Cooper was delighted with his strikers. He said: "That the best I've ever seen Ian Maxwell and Gary Wood play for this club. Gary in particular realised I had made up my mind about Mark Hateley and he's thrived on my decision. "But even so I'm always trying to strengthen the squad and I'm looking at players all the time." |
