Clyde 0 Ross County 4
Ross County cruised into today's second round draw in the Bell's Scottish League Challenge Cup, at Broadwood last night.
And the only frights for the Second Division newcomers came within the first two minutes when they almost gifted the opener. With just 43 seconds gone Craig Tully was short with an attempted pass-back but Brian Carrigan lifted the ball over with only keeper Nicky Walker to beat.
And then, in two minutes, another defensive blunder created a chance for Steve Convery but he was denied by a fine save by keeper Walker.
After that Ross County were in control and it was no surprise when, in 17 minutes, John Fraser ghosted between two defenders to reach a Roy McBain cross and carry on to shoot low into the net.
And then, in 33 minutes, another McBain cross was met by Brian Irvine who headed across goal where the leaping Mike Geraghty Headed in a second at the far post.
Geraghty should have made it three in 53 minutes when Franck Escalon cut through the Clyde defence before finding the striker with an accurate cross, but he lifted the ball over the bar.
Roy McBain again supplied the cross in 64 minutes to catch out the struggling Clyde defence and Irvine easily headed a third.
And After keeper David Wylie failed to clear a corner positively, George Shaw forced the ball over the line for a fourth in a goalmouth scramble nine minutes from time.
