| Comments | Match Report Report from the Press & Journal. Ross County 2 Clyde 1 Clyde boss Allan Maitland made an astonishing 11 changes from the line-up that won in Dingwall on Saturday. And through the move back-fired with a first-round Bell's League Challenge Cup exit, County had to survive a second-half scare before securing an otherwise comfortable victory. Alex Bone put County in front on 15 minutes with a straight-forward tap-in at the back post set-up by an Ian Maxwell flick-on. The Bully Wee could have equalised three minutes after the Highlanders' goal. Craig MacPherson's drive from the edge of the box was parried by the unsighted Nicky Walker and Craig Bingham's follow-up cannoned back off a post. On the hour sub Darren Henderson nodded home yet an impressive George Shaw centre. Just seconds before, Bone had hit the bar with a wicked turn and shot from 20 yards. The small group Clyde fans were on their feet 19 minutes from time. David MacKay hauled Phil Cannie down in the area and Cannie stuck the kick away to Walker's left. County were comfortable winners by the end, but Maitland must have been happy with the never-say-die qualities of his second choice 11. |
